Over the last five years, the staff of Denton Black Film Festival, or DBFF, have become experts at storytelling and
event planning for film. These talents have extended year-after-year to other artistic endeavors including spoken word poetry, comedy, food, lecture, and music.
The focus of DBFF has primarily been in the Arts.
In addition, DBFF will focus on the sciences of film, i.e. interactive technolologies and arts, that affect film professionals
behind the camera and has extensions into our everyday lives. For this reason, during the culminating retreat happening in January 2021, DBFF will introduce the ideal compliment
to film - media and design - by adding an Interactive Expo (DBFF-IE).
Starting January 27, 2021 Over 20,000 sq. ft. will blossom into the touchable, wearable,
embeddable (XR), augmentable (AR), aeriality, imaging, recognition, and virtual (VR) devices of the Interactive Expo
across two primary venues and embedded into several secondary venues.
Starting January 31, 2021 Our volunteers and organizers will present awards and certificate to best-of-show winners and sponsors will begin breaking down their booths
and/or respective areas.
Opening Branch DBFF Offices DBFF-IE and the DBFF Institute will continue to promote interactive events, products, and services that jointly assist your company throughout the year.
Our Invitation
The Denton Black Film Festival (DBFF) is a multidisciplinary platform that utilizes film and events to share stories of the Black community – its traditions, ideas, and experiences – in a multitude of ways. For every one actor or actress standing in front of the camera, there are 100's of film and business professionals behind the eye of camera whose focus is to create the most dynamic media that exists in the world. DBFF Interactive Expo (DBFF-IE) seeks to showcase the most dynamic media that exist in the world based on two criteria - (1) media relevant to the black experience and (2) media using 7 of the most progressive and interactive technologies - scrapbooks, touch screens, AR, VR, wearables, drones, and 3D printing.

The layout and setup of the 1st Annual DBFF Interactive Expo can best be explained as an intermixture of “technology villages”. The architecture of each village is based on the sponsorship level, lounge sizes, actions by startups, and year of startups. As with many nerdy acronyms, we refer to this architecture as SLAY. Our SLAY architecture seeks to achieve two objectives: (1) discuss the words that can be used to describe your sponsor's booth space; and (2) theme and schedule your in-booth experiences.

In 1910, D.W. Griffith coined the phrase “Lights, Camera, and Action” as specific commands to three essential factions of a moment in film. Similiarly, DBFF-IE represents one of the three essential divisions of DBFF - festival, institute, interactive. DBFF-IE focuses more deeply on the CAMERA area associated with the trichotomy of FILM and media. This section is used to provide an EXAMPLE of media that may stimulate deeper connections and ideas for media used at DBFF-IE.

Guideline 6 of 12: Display Links to Social Media, Streams, or Timelines

There are many tools that can be used for streaming statistics and comments ranging from social media to phone devices. These streaming softwares and devices may be incorporated into the DBFF-IE environmnets through various forms of large-scale digital signage. This section serves two objectives: (1) to present brief and simple EXAMPLES of comments from visitors to DBFF-IE; and (2) to remind our sponsors of the importance of streaming on signage and social media platforms.
